The Village of Monroe is seeking a qualified Part-Time Assistant Building Inspector III to assist with building code enforcement, inspections, and related duties.

Responsibilities:
• Inspect new construction and alterations for compliance with approved plans, building codes, zoning regulations, and applicable laws.
• Review plans and permit applications.
• Investigate complaints and report violations.
• Communicate with contractors, property owners, and the public.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare reports.
• Assist with permits and certificates of occupancy as authorized.

Qualifications:
• NYS Basic Code Enforcement Training Certificate; or
• Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology, or related field; or
• High school diploma/equivalency and two (2) years of paid experience in building construction or inspection.

Additional Requirements:
Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, including verification of qualifications, employment history, certifications, and references.

The Village of Monroe is seeking a qualified Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer to investigate and enforce violations of Village codes and ordinances.

Duties Include:
• Patrol the Village and investigate code violations and complaints.
• Issue notices of violation and/or summonses when appropriate.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance.
• Communicate with property owners regarding violations and corrective actions.
• Prepare reports, maintain records, and testify in Village Court when required.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Two (2) years of experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or building construction; or
• NYS Basic Code Enforcement Training Certificate may substitute for experience.
• Valid New York State driver’s license required.

Duties Include:
• Greet the public and answer phone calls.
• Process building permits and inspection requests.
• Maintain department records and files.
• Prepare correspondence and reports.
• Assist with scheduling and general office duties.

Qualifications
:
• Strong communication and customer service skills; bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to multitask and work independently.
• Prior clerical or office experience preferred.

Inspectors are needed in Orange County, NY to work the polls, on Primary Day in September General Election Day in November.
