The Department of Public Works handles street maintenance, including potholes and snow removal, grass cutting, tree trimming and maintenance of the Millponds. They also handle all issues related to water in the Village of Monroe, such as questions about your water bill, water main breaks, problems with household water.

Please note that the Village owns the road from curb to curb with an easement of 10 feet on either side. There should be nothing placed in the easement area that may impede the proper and speedy maintenance of the road, unless approved by the Supervisor.
Curbside parking is prohibited from 10pm to 6am from November 1 through March 31. Violators will be ticketed.
Water bills are mailed quarterly in February, May, August and November.
Payment is due 30 days after the bill date.
There is a 10% penalty per month on overdue bills.

On April 15 all unpaid Village water account balances are levied onto the Village tax.
A $75 charge is assessed on all re-levied bills.
After October 1 and April 1, unpaid Town accounts will be subject to water termination for non payment.

Common Causes of High Water Bills
An unusually high water bill is most often caused by a leak or change in water use.
• A running toilet or dripping faucet can waste 20 gallons of water a day or more
• Filling a pool or hot tub
• Watering a lawn or trees
• Kids home on break or visitors
• Broken Pipe
Leaks, whether unseen or unfixed, can waste hundreds of gallons of water. It is important to routinely check your plumbing inside and outside the home for leaks.
