Board of Trustees
Purpose
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the Village. As such, it is empowered to manage and control Village property and finances. It also has the authority to pass laws and ordinances not inconsistent with state law. This Board consists of the Mayor and four Trustees; all must be resident voters of the Village, over 21 years old, and property owners.
If you have an unresolved complaint, you may submit it to the Mayor and/or the Board for review. No complaint will be recognized unless in writing and signed. Agenda requests must be made in writing and submitted to the Village Clerk by Thursday at 12 noon before the Tuesday meeting. You should call to find out the date of the meeting.
Responsibilities
The Mayor is the executive official of the village; it is his/her duty to supervise the conduct of subordinate officers of the village and to sit on the Board ofTrustees. He/she is elected for a four-year term and is salaried. The Mayor may vote in all trustee decisions and is required to vote in case of a tie.
Trustees are elected for four-year terms (occurring every two years); they are salaried. Each Trustee is in charge of a particular village function i.e., police department, water department, etc. These assignments are made by the Mayor.
