The building inspector is in the office mornings 8-12 and out in the field in the afternoon. What requires a permit? Click here to Snow and Ice Removal - Failure to clear the sidewalk of snow and ice will result in a fine to the owner or occupant of a building. Residents are urged not to shovel snow into the street after a snow storm. Shovel out Around Hydrants - Keep fire hydrants free of snow so that in case of emergency, precious time is not lost in locating hydrants and having to dig them out. They should be free of snow and other debris at least 3 feet on all sides. The home you save may be your own. Ice Skating - Ice skating on the Mill Pond should only be on the north side near the commuter parking lot and only when the green flag is up. Mailbox Policy - Any mailbox shall be erected in the manner that will not interfere with the speedy and efficient removal of snow and/or ice by the Village. Protect Water Meter from Freezing - Protect your water meter from freezing. There is a $40 charge to replace frozen meters. After Hours Drop Box - After hour drop box is available outside the Village Clerk's Office to the right of the front door. Parking - Village bans parking on village streets from November 1st to April 1st: A seasonal ban on all night parking on Village of Monroe takes effect on November 1st. From that date until April 1st, no vehicle may be parked on any Village street between 10 PM and 6 AM.
